Where Big Learning Begins in Little Steps
At Huron Little Tigers Preschool, we believe that a strong start builds a strong future. Housed within Woodlands Elementary School, our program serves children ages 3 to 5 in an inclusive, nurturing environment designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and support every child’s unique developmental journey.
Our team of highly qualified early childhood educators is dedicated to creating safe, engaging, and play-based learning experiences that foster academic, social, and emotional growth. Whether your child is learning to share, exploring letters and numbers, or gaining independence, we are here to guide and support them every step of the way.
We proudly partner with the Erie County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Huron City Schools to ensure that all students, including those with special needs, receive the individualized support they need to thrive. Our commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and whole-child development is at the heart of everything we do.

Positive Behavior Support (PBIS)
At Huron Little Tigers Preschool, we believe in fostering a nurturing, respectful environment where every child can learn and grow. Our approach centers on teaching positive behaviors, building strong relationships, and creating a safe, predictable space for all students.
-
Our Philosophy: Discipline is about learning, not punishment. We focus on helping children understand their emotions, express themselves appropriately, develop empathy, and build independence. We view challenging behavior as an opportunity for growth.
-
Daily Strategies: Our staff utilizes clear visual schedules, gentle redirection, logical consequences, and positive reinforcement to guide students through school routines.
-
Individualized Support: If a child requires additional behavioral help, we closely collaborate with families to build tailored strategies, which may include consulting with our school psychologists or intervention specialists.

Staying Connected
Strong communication between families and educators is essential to each child’s development. We keep you actively engaged throughout the school year using these primary tools:
-
ParentSquare: Our central platform for building-wide announcements, classroom updates, event reminders, and direct text messaging with your child's teacher.
-
Monthly Newsletters: Classroom-specific updates outlining current learning themes, upcoming dates, and home-activity ideas.
-
Progress Reports & Conferences: Regular developmental check-ins and scheduled face-to-face parent-teacher conferences.
Parents are highly encouraged to keep their contact information updated in our student management system and check ParentSquare regularly.
-
-
Parent Involvement
Research shows that when families are actively engaged in early education, children develop stronger language skills, build higher social confidence, and maintain better school attendance.
We offer flexible ways to participate that fit your family's schedule:
-
Classroom Celebrations: Join us for seasonal events, volunteer reading hours, and special family milestone days.
-
At-Home Support: Read with your child daily and engage with the monthly classroom newsletter goals.
-
PTO & Committees: Join the parent-teacher organization to advocate for preschool initiatives and help plan community-wide events.
-
-
Arrival & Transportation
We work hard to ensure a safe, organized arrival and dismissal routine for our youngest learners.
-
Daily Family Drop-Off & Pick-Up: Most preschool families provide their own daily transportation. Vehicle drop-off and pick-up occur at the main entrance of Woodlands Elementary School. Please remain in designated lanes and follow all posted staff directions.
-
Special Education Bus Services: Students who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that includes specialized transportation as a related service will be contacted directly by the Huron City Schools Transportation Department prior to the start of the year.
-
Safety Rule: All preschoolers must be handed off directly to an adult. For bus riders, an adult must be visibly present at the designated stop location to receive the child, or the bus driver will return the student to the school building.
